Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Powell, age 80, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Hospice House. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was a member of Chapel By the Sea Baptist Church at Tybee. She worked for fine’s Department Store during World War II.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, R. Aaron Powell of Tybee Island; two daughters, Terri Godfrey Doyle and her husband, Michael, of Savannah, and Kathy Powell Lackey and her husband, Jim, of Woodstock, GA; a son, Roderick Lee Powell and his wife, Paula, of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Warren Powell and his wife, Amanda, of Pace, FL, John Powell and Matt Powell, both of Atlanta, Mandy Cutler and her husband, Will, of Charleston, Chris Godfrey and his wife, Janna, of Savannah, and Lynn Lackey of San Francisco, CA; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Powell of Pace, FL.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, with Rev. David C. Laughner officiating
Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
